L'ESCALA

L'ESCALA

Villa Service is a villa and apartment letting & sales agency based in a beautiful town called L’Escala on the Costa Brava . We have been established since 1986.

L’Escala is 50 kms from Girona aiport, 140 kms from Barcelona and 50 kms to French border and is one of the most interesting and picturesque places on the Costa Brava. The old town grew up around the fishing industry and L’Escala is world famous for its Anchovies. There is a daily fruit and vegetable market and a Sunday market along the promenade. An excellent modern Marina accommodates the fishing fleet as well as luxury yachts and motor cruisers. Within a few minutes there are many sandy beaches and the clear water is ideal for snorkelling & scuba diving.
In the area there are a whole range of other sporting facilities, including many Golf courses. A variety of bars and superb restaurants (many specialising in fish dishes) exist in the town and on the outskirts. Just outside the old town of L’Escala are the historic ruins of Ampuries. Once the centre of Roman colonisation in this area.

Sports & nature

With a mild climate in winter and hot in summer, L'Escala is ideal for all kinds of outdoor and water sports.  Running, biking, kayaking, sailing, water skiing, windsurfing, trekking .. (photo: Kayaking Costa Brava)

Nightlife info

During the summer months it has a good selection of bars and restaurants with terraces facing the sea. Do not miss sardanas dancing on the old town beach all July and August on Wednesdays.

Culture and history info

One does not have to be particularly interested in history or even interested in archaeology to succumb to the charm of the excavations of Empúries. The excavations are less than two kilometres from L’Escala and can be reached by foot comfortably along the beach promenade." (Source: CapCreus OnLine: The Ruins of Empuries)
